I came across this sculpture in the local cemetery.  DSCF6138 

The figure was carved from local stone in the mid nineteenth century. The porous local stone has not weathered well and the figure now appears to be much older than it really is.   There is a poignancy in the pitted eroded gaze that speaks to me of the enduring nature of faith – not matter what  religion or belief system you follow faith can give you hope.
