Old timer

Another old photo that turned up this week in my archival dig    It’s a close up of an old steam engine I saw at a vintage car rally a few years ago.   The strange effect on the photo comes from using the HDR filter in Photoshop then converting the image to Black and White.  I quite like the effect – it reminds me the photos in old books from the 1950s.

  1. It’s a beauty! Your processing captures gleam, and is skilfully composed. What is it with machines (and dilapidation)? Why are each so attractive? I keep wondering. Not that this current photo shows any signs of dilapidation, despite the fact that it’s old.

    1. It had been polished until it gleamed. The old engines at that rally were so cherished. It was wonderful to see but I didn’t stay long because the men were firing them up with diesel. The place stank. I agree with you about old dilapidated machines – there is a machine to them.

Please comment. I love knowing what you think.
